Since October 2014 i have been working with Fixers UK on my end the negative stigma towards the transgender community poster.
Fixers is a charity which gives young people aged between 16 and 25 the change to use their past to fix the future.
I have worked with Fixers to create a poster to end the negative stigma towards the transgender community. Me, Joe and Jenny all worked on the poster design which is:
As you can see my poster relates to most peoples everyday lives because being transgender you feel trapped on a daily basis and i wanted the public to relate to it in a different aspect.
One date during may we was filming in Newport for ITV Wales which shows a project each month and mine is going to be aired onto national TV in front of everybody in Wales! (may i add i’m so scared but so excited!). We spent the whole day filming in Newport at the University of South Wales and Newport City Center. Kate Hutchinson came from Wrexham to be a part of my broadcast piece, we shared our experiences, thoughts and how both of our coming outs where completely different, she managed to open my eyes up to what i want to do, so thank you Kate! :). The whole day overall made me feel like this is what i want to do in the future, i want to help the transgender community become something positive, not negative!
Fingers crossed my poster campaign can make one transgender persons coming out a little easier than mine was. Thank you to everybody in Fixers who have helped me make one of my dreams into a reality! 🙂
Tune into ITV Wales at 6pm on Thursday the 4th of June 2015!! 🙂
